Georgiou Engineering is set to begin the construction of the Daddow Road Bridge and associated works in January 2009. The works comprise the construction of a 76 metre bridge and associated works to carry Daddow Road over the existing rail line and Dundas Road on a new alignment closer to Tonkin Highway.
A new cycle path will be constructed along the north side of Abernethy Road to provide a link to the Tonkin Highway cycle facilities. In addition, traffic signals will be installed at the Abernethy Road and Daddow Road intersection to improve safety, especially for larger heavy vehicles.
The Daddow Road project will build on Georgiou’s national bridge and road building capabilities. The Engineering Division, under the management of Dirk Baumgartel, General Manager - Engineering, has recently completed the Rail Loop Bridge at Port Kembla in New South Wales and is currently completing the Perth Arena Bus Bridge in the Perth CBD.
Georgiou Building achieves 'Level 5' accreditation from DHW
7 August 2008
A key strategy for Georgiou Building is to deliver State and Federal Government projects for agencies such as the Department of Housing & Works and Defence. DHW is responsible for all of the State Government's housing and works functions, covering public and community housing, Aboriginal and regional housing, property sales, major government projects and capital works projects.
In order for Georgiou Building to tender for Department of Housing and Works (DHW) projects, it was necessary for Georgiou Building to pre-qualify for Building Contractors Pre-Qualification Certification.
Georgiou Building applied for the top category, Level 5 Complex, which allows the company to tender for major and complex building works up to a value of $45,000,000.
In August 2008, Georgiou Building General Manager, Frank Dilizia and his team were pleased to receive confirmation that DHW had pre-qualified Georgiou Building to Level 5 Complex Certification.
Achievement of this major milestone is a credit to the technical, financial and management depth and capability within Georgiou Group and Georgiou Building.
