Urban Renewal
Precast

Precast is the manufacturing business of Georgiou. With staff numbers increasing in the past year by 30%, it has been one of Georgiou’s fastest growing business units.
Growth has been achieved through expansion into the East Coast and by moving into the manufacture of products for the oil and gas industry.

Demand remains high for specialised drainage and sewer products, including three metre pump stations currently being supplied to the infrastructure industry. The large Precast factory enables fast response to greater workloads and market demands in an efficient and timely manner. A selection of current projects delivered by Georgiou Precast are showcased below:

Bluewater Project

Villawood, NSW

Precast were contracted to manufacture 22,800 precast concrete segments for the Blue Water Project, a joint venture between John Holland and Veolia Water, for the design and construction of a new desalination plant in Sydney. Precast were able to set up a new manufacturing facility for this specific project within six weeks which was fully operational within three months.

The Blue Water project involved the casting of 13,000 cubic metres of concrete overall, producing 150 segments daily which was a significant achievement. The segments created 3,800 rings which were pieced together and used to build two, 2.5 kilometre long intake and outtake tunnels.

Mermaid Marine

Dampier, WA

Precast successfully completed work for Woodside’s Pluto Project by encasing steel columns and beams with concrete to achieve a five-proof rating.

It also produced 40 tonne concrete blocks for a gravity wall for Harbour works Clough at Dampier. On the back of this, Precast is continuing to target work in the oil and gas industry.

Southern Gateway
Alliance -
Perth to
Bunbury Highway, WA

Precast was contracted by the Reinforced Earth Company to manufacture 5,000m² of abutment walls for the Southern Gateway Alliance.

This project had to be carefully planned prior to casting so an intricate artwork pattern could be incorporated into 50 percent of the walls.
