Work Experience

Providing students with work experience opportunities

Studying and/or training is essential for many jobs, but it’s really the experience you gain in real life work situations that will set you up for a successful and long-lasting career. Georgiou provides the opportunity for students to undertake work experience in office or on-site environments. This is an excellent way to determine if you are suitable for a job placement or certain career. The practical experience will surpass anything you can learn in the class room. To discuss our various work experience possibilities, contact a member of the Learning and Development team.

How do you start?

The best place to start is to evaluate your qualifications, skills, experience or passions and see what areas of construction suits you best. You can then talk to a member of our Learning and Development team who will evaluate your position and, if suitable, place you accordingly. All work experience placements are required to provide relevant paperwork (including insurances) from their school, college or university.

Please note: We do not offer work experience for engineering, construction management and health and safety students. These form part of our Cadet Development Program.

To get started submit your CV here.

Student work experience

There are a number of different ways to study and work at the same time and many companies offer a variety of work experience programs. These may include:

  • Cadetship

Students are offered training positions in specific departments designed to equip applicants with the right skills and knowledge for a specific position. This may be full or part-time.

  • Vacation work

This is usually a more flexible arrangement whereby the student works during his or her vacation time to gain practical work experience, albeit for a limited time period.
