Georgiou, in joint venture with Koppens Developments, has been awarded the Bruce Highway – Cairns Southern Access Corridor Stage 4 project from Kate Street to Aumuller Street for client, Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR).

The project involves upgrading 2.6km of the Bruce Highway from four to six lanes and will deliver long-term improvements to traffic flow, freight delivery and road safety south of Cairns.

CEO Rob Monaci said Georgiou had delivered numerous road improvement projects for DTMR.

“We understand our client’s needs and look forward to working with our partners – Koppens Developments – to provide a high quality project for our client and the local community,” he said.

The contract award comes just months after Georgiou was awarded the Northern Road upgrade project, between Mersey Road, Bringelly and Eaton Road, Luddenham in New South Wales, in joint venture with Ertech valued at more than $120 million.

“A key element of our growth strategy is to firmly establish ourselves in the road infrastructure and transport sectors across Australia. We look forward to working in Cairns and continuing to deliver infrastructure that keeps Australians moving.”

Construction, which will employ 120 at peak, has commenced with expected completion in 2021.
