The new debris fences are a key part of the Cairns DRFA project, providing long-term protection against future rockfalls, landslide debris and slope failures. Engineered to absorb and contain falling material the debris fences shield not only road users but also the surrounding environment including the adjacent World Heritage‑listed rainforest and Marine National Park areas.

A flythrough from TMR highlights the scale, design, and effectiveness of the debris fences, demonstrating how smart engineering and careful planning are protecting Cairns infrastructure, link to flythrough here.

These works showcase our teams focus on innovation, collaboration, and practical delivery, providing sustainable, long‑term solutions that enhance resilience and protect the Captain Cook Highway against future extreme-weather events.
