Georgiou, with DM Drainage and Construction, have been announced as the preferred proponent to form an alliance with Water Corporation to deliver the 33.5km Alkimos to Wanneroo Desalination Pipeline Project in Western Australia.
The scope of work to be delivered by the Alkimos Pipeline Alliance involves the design, construction and commissioning of the 1.6metre-diameter, WA-manufactured, below ground water pipeline. Once complete, the pipeline will transfer drinking water produced by the future Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant to Wanneroo Reservoir to be combined with Perth’s Integrated Water Supply Scheme.
This Alliance aligns with Georgiou’s current and previously delivered projects for Water Corporation, including the Alkimos Desalination Plant Enabling Works, Burrup Seawater Supply Scheme Early Works and Hazelmere and Helena Valley Water Pipeline
General Manager – Infrastructure, Tony Ricciardello said, “Driving excellence in the delivery of critical infrastructure while caring for and connecting with the communities we work within is what we stand for.
The Alkimos Pipeline Alliance brings together extensive expertise in large-scale steel water pipeline projects and sustainable skills and mentoring initiatives that will ensure we leave a lasting and sustainable legacy in the delivery of this project.”
With the first six kilometres of the pipeline already constructed in Alkimos, the Alliance will begin working on the remaining 27.5km in early 2025, with the project expected to be complete in late 2027.
