Northern Gold Coast residents and visitors now have improved public transport access, including new park ‘n’ ride, active transport, and bus services connections at the station, easing pressure on the nearby Helensvale station.
Sean Donald, General Manager – QLD said “Seeing Hope Island station officially open is a proud moment for everyone involved. This project is a great example of what can be achieved when strong partnerships, engineering expertise and a team committed to delivering the best outcome for our clients and the community. The AGJV team has delivered an outstanding result that will support the Gold Coast’s continued growth and improve connectivity for locals and visitors for years to come”.
Congratulations to our Georgiou ACCIONA Joint Venture (AGJV) team who collaboratively delivered this project with Cross River Rail Delivery Authority.
“We’re very pleased to have reached this important project milestone. A big thank you goes out to all the efforts from Queensland Rail, CRRDA and AGJV team members for their contributions over the last few years to help bring this station to life.
There’s been a lot of hard work put in by many personnel to get us here and we’re very happy with the final product”, said Simon, AGJV Project Director.
During design and construction, our team delivered many project achievements including:
- Constructing Queensland’s first station built entirely retrofitted to an elevated twin-track viaduct
- Providing jobs for locals with over 495,800 project hours worked
- Installing 24 reinforced concrete girders, weighing 52 tonnes each, to construct two 160-metre-long station platforms
- Installing over 450 tonnes of structural steel to support station elements
- Distributing over 32,000 project works notifications to keep the community informed during design and construction.
Located adjacent to Mangrove Jack Park, Hope Island station also features 210 car parks, new bus stops and undercover bicycle storage facilities to support integrated transport options for the growing northern Gold Coast community.
We’re extremely proud to have played a key role in shaping the future of public transportation on the Gold Coast through this legacy project!
