The Midland Junction Alliance, comprising Georgiou, McConnell Dowell, Arcadis Australia and BG&E, opened the new car park in January 2025. The car park provides Midland Station users with a five-storey car park which includes 20 Australian Council for Rehabilitation of Disabled (ACROD) bays, 13 motorcycle bays, Pay by Plate and SmartParker machines, lifts, lighting, CCTV, duress alarms and the provision for future electric car charging stations.
The car park’s exterior design acknowledges both the geographical landmarks and the colours of local Aboriginal language groups. With the bright exterior colours representing the area between the Western Australian Coast and the nearby Darling Ranges, the facades’ pattern maps the shape of the Swan, Canning and Helena rivers.

Project Manager, Sam Collins, said opening the car park officially brings the project team to the halfway point.
“The team worked relentlessly to deliver this car park to an extremely high-quality standard, which we are very proud of, and this has been recognised by our client and numerous stakeholders”, said Sam.
“The team worked in a constrained site footprint, which included the live electrified Public Transport Authority rail corridor running against the entire southern face of the site. It was impressive to see the level of detail put into the planning of each stage of the works to overcome this and deliver success after success!”

With the new car park now open, the old car park will be decommissioned allowing construction to begin on the temporary and permanent bus interchange.
The Midland Junction Alliance is delivering the design and construct contract for the New Midland Station project on behalf of our client, the Public Transport Authority. In addition to opening the new multi-storey car park, the team reached several other major milestones throughout 2024, including:
- Completion of the new Cale St level crossing and decommissioning of the existing Helena St level crossing.
- Construction of the new Regional track alignment and construction of the associated temporary regional platform.
- Completion of ARC freight rail network works, inclusive of signalling & track upgrades.
- Significant progress to the Driver Sign On Building and New Midland Station structures.

Valued at $246.7 million, the project’s scope of work includes:
- Relocating Midland Station to the east of its existing location and demolition of the existing Midland Station building
- New 12-stand bus interchange and multi-storey car park with more than 800 bays at the location of the former Midland Station
- Closing Helena St crossing to create new public spaces and safe connections between the bus interchange and station
- Building a replacement level crossing from Cale Street south to Yelverton Drive (this component was completed in 2024)
- A 24/7 publicly accessible pedestrian overpass to connect the north and south sides of the rail corridor and provide access to all platforms during station operation
- More than 1km shared path along the northern side of the rail corridor, connecting to the existing cycle network at Morrison Road and Lloyd Street
- 1.7km of new dual track connecting into the new Bellevue Depot
- Active transport infrastructure into the existing local shared user path network
