Delivered by the Midland Junction Alliance (MJA) in partnership with the Public Transport Authority, the project has transformed Midland into a modern, connected and future-ready transport hub supporting long-term growth across the region.
More than just infrastructure, the new station is a legacy project for Western Australia. Built in the heart of a live urban environment, it strengthens connections across the precinct and beyond, improving access for passengers while creating a more vibrant and activated place for the community. The project scope expanded during the construction phase, reflecting its importance in meeting future transport demand and unlocking precinct development.
From complex rail and signalling upgrades to new public spaces and integrated transport solutions, the project showcases Georgiou’s capability to deliver large-scale, technically complex infrastructure, while maintaining live rail operations and minimising disruption to the community.
Steve Okill – Building General Manager said:
The completion of Midland Station reflects the strength of collaboration and the full capability of Georgiou’s Building, Infrastructure and Engineering teams to deliver in challenging environments”.
“This is a project our team can be incredibly proud of. Delivering a major station precinct alongside live rail operations takes careful planning, strong partnerships and a shared commitment to getting it right.
“The new Midland Station is more than a transport hub; it’s a long-term investment in the community. It improves connectivity, supports growth and creates a place people can move through and connect with ease.
“Through the alliance model, we’ve worked closely with our partners to manage complexity, adapt to changing scope and deliver a result that will serve Western Australians for decades to come.
The completed precinct includes a new three platform station, pedestrian overpass, multi-storey car park, Drivers Sign-On Building, bus interchange and upgraded public spaces. It also connects to the Bellevue Railcar Depot, supporting the introduction of Perth’s new C-series trains.
Key works were delivered within tight rail shutdown windows, including critical upgrades completed during an 86-hour possession, ensuring continuity of suburban and regional services.
Sustainability and innovation were central to delivery, with the use of prefabrication, digital engineering and low-emissions construction methods helping to improve safety, reduce disruption and enhance project outcomes.
The Midland Station project reinforces Georgiou’s reputation as the best people to work with—delivering complex infrastructure through collaboration, care and a commitment to excellence.
