The Gold Coast-Springbrook Road has reopened after 12 months of construction – and just in time for Christmas!

Georgiou completed major reconstruction works at 53 landslip sites along a 7.5km section of Gold Coast-Springbrook Road.

“As part of the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA), Georgiou undertook remedial works to repair the damaged slopes and reconstruct the road itself to improve safety and stability in the area,” explains Project Manager Joe Barker.

“Despite the recent wet weather, the team has worked hard to keep the project on track and to have it open before Christmas is a huge achievement.”

Queensland Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said he would like to thank the local community for their patience and resilience during the reconstruction works.

“We know the landslips were devastating for the area and have caused significant disruption to people’s daily lives,” Mr Bailey said.

The road has been closed since April 2017 with Georgiou awarded the project in early December that same year.

Georgiou will be continuing works in the area in early 2019 along Pine Creek Road.

Georgiou recently delivered the Lamington National Park Road Reconstruction package in February 2018 as part of the NDRRA, with works continuing at our Beechmont Road project until 2019.
