Work on Georgiou Group’s Scarborough Beach Redevelopment Project is in full swing with Planning Minister the Hon. Rita Saffioti visiting the site on the first day of summer to inspect foreshore works.

Scope of works on the redevelopment includes demolition, service and drainage installation, pavement construction, soft and hard landscaping works, carpark reconfiguration, construction of a new Surf Club and a number of other buildings.

The project team is also redeveloping the public domain areas within Scarborough Beach between Manning Street and Brighton Road, spanning from the shop fronts to the edge of the beach.

In addition to a tour of current progress, Minister Saffioti announced the completion of the iconic Scarborough Esplanade, which was officially opened to traffic in both directions on 4 December.

“Re-opening The Esplanade is a major milestone towards completion of this project and has been a long-awaited change for local businesses and the community,” she said.

Georgiou is progressing well in the lead up to Christmas with the team expected to re-open all car park areas in late December as well as complete the basement level of the new surf club.

All major works will be completed in time for the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships in April.
