After eight months of construction, the $21 million Botanic Gardens Riverwalk in Queensland opened to the public on 19 December 2019.

The 187-metre pedestrian and cycle bridge spans from the City Reach Boardwalk (at the corner of Alice and Edward streets) to Bunya Walk and features:

  • a new two-way, six-metre wide separated cyclist and pedestrian pathway;
  • viewing platform;
  • footpath connections to existing pathways;
  • new lighting, wayfinding signage and a permanent counter; and
  • associated landscaping works.

The project also features a key link in the River Access Network with the city’s second river hub – a multi-purpose facility with space for pick-up/drop-off and short-term parking for local vessels – connected to the riverwalk.

Whether you travel by foot, bicycle or boat, the riverwalk now provides a safer, accessible and more direct connection for the people of Brisbane.
