Georgiou has been awarded a contract by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to deliver the Olsen Avenue Six-Lane Upgrade, valued at $11 million.

Georgiou will widen Olsen Avenue (Labrador—Carrara Road) to three lanes in each direction between Crestwood Drive and Southport—Nerang Road, as well as upgrade the Southport—Nerang Road intersection and add pedestrian and cyclist paths.

The Olsen Avenue Six-Lane Upgrade is part of a $160.7 million package of road network improvement projects to help manage traffic impacts during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

“We are thrilled to be awarded this key contract and be part of the exciting development plans in Queensland,” said General Manager Queensland Gary Georgiou .

“We have a vast wealth of experience in delivering complex brownfield infrastructure projects across the State, including Paradise Road and two sections of the Southport—Burleigh Upgrade.

“Throughout the project we will work closely with TMR and the local community to minimise any disruption to the travelling public. Additionally, delivery of this project will provide significant opportunities for local subcontractors and suppliers so together we can leave behind a legacy for the local community.

“As one of the fastest growing cities in Queensland, we look forward to delivering a project that will increase the capacity of the transport network, reduce travel times and delays and leave behind a safer road network for users.”

The project, which will see 90 personnel at peak, is due for completion in mid to late 2017.
