Fresh off the successful delivery of Warrego Highway Toowoomba-Oakey Duplication Stage 2 project in 2018,  Georgiou  has been awarded a second contract as part of the Warrego Highway Upgrade Program (WHUP), valued at circa $43 million.

The Warrego Highway (Oakey-Miles) Safety Upgrades Stage 2 and Dalby-Miles Pavement Widening involves the widening and repair of key sections of Warrego Highway between Dalby and Miles, by installing wide centre line treatments and new stopping bays as well as flattening slopes off the road edges.

Executive General Manager Gary Georgiou says the company is excited to deliver another component of the Warrego Highway Upgrade Program.

“Having delivered the Warrego Highway Toowoomba-Oakey Duplication Stage 2 project in 2018 on time and budget, our team is well-versed in the challenges faced on this stretch of road and brings a high level of expertise and experience to the project,” he explains.

“Additionally, we look forward to building on our relationship with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and working closely with the local community to minimise any disruption during construction.”

Works, which will see a project team at peak of 150 personnel, will commence in early 2019 with expected completion in early 2020.
The WHUP is a $635 million package of 18 approved projects between Toowoomba and west of Miles funded 80% by the Federal government and 20% by the Queensland government.
