CITY BEACH REDEVELOPMENT
In June 2014, Georgiou commenced work on the $13 million City Beach Redevelopment project.
Scope of works included:
- construction of a new surf lifesaving building;
- three restaurants providing a variety of dining options;
- construction of new roads; and
- extensive shaded and landscaped recreational spaces.
The building incorporates grass-topped roofs and viewing towers accessible to the public, more than $3 million of hard and soft landscaping – including the relocation of several mature pine trees – with extensive open pathways, public plazas, an amphitheatre, precast concrete feature wall panels and high quality finishes throughout.
The new surf club replaced the previous outdated facility, and includes a gymnasium, administration area and new bar facilities. The commercial tenancies are currently leased to private restaurant and retail businesses, and provide a much-needed vibrant social hub on the beach front.
