Project Introduction

Georgiou has delivered the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct West (MPW) project for ESR in New South Wales - part of what will become Australia’s largest freight infrastructure development.

The Moorebank Intermodal Precinct connects Port Botany directly to rail terminals and warehousing across a 243-hectare site in Sydney’s southwest.

Once a former military base, Moorebank Logistics Park Intermodal Precinct West (MPW) – Land Preparation Works and Precinct Infrastructure Construct Only Works included extensive earthworks, 12 warehouse pads, access roads, detention basins, stormwater drainage, and utilities.

The Project navigated several challenges including safe management of impacted site soils, groundwater and varying geotechnical strata. They also addressed unexpected discoveries – including Indigenous scar trees, unexploded ordnance, and cultural artefacts. Despite complexity with added work packages, requiring effective change management and stakeholder coordination, the project was completed to a high standard within revised budget and schedule.
