In early 2014, Georgiou was awarded a $16 million contract for the design and construction of Patrick Autocare’s Webb Dock Pre-Delivery Inspection Hub – part of the Port of Melbourne’s Port Capacity Project.

Scope of work on the Webb Dock Pre-Delivery Inspection Hub included:

  • construction of over 100,000m2 of heavy and light duty asphalt pavements and concrete hardstands;
  • design, construction and fit out of 10,000m2 processing facility and offices, as well as wash bays and refueling stations;
  • some 120,000m3 of bulk earthworks; and
  • design and installation of drainage, water, sewer, lighting and security.
Challenges included overcoming design interface and regulatory requirements on site, working to a tight delivery program, interface with other contractors and operators, and the management of key stakeholders to the project.

Georgiou took a proactive and collaborative approach to stakeholder and design management, ensuring the client’s needs were addressed and achieved within budget and target timeframe. Our combined experience in civil and building construction meant that the best solutions and efficiencies for the whole of the project were realised, resulting in an exceptional outcome for the development.
