Georgiou secured the Springbrook Road Repair Works project in December 2017, valued at $16 million.
The contract is part of the Natural Disaster Recovery and Reconstruction Arrangement (NDRRA) which is jointly funded by the Australian and State Governments. Remedial works were required to repair slope failures (erosion, debris slides and rock falls both above and below the road) which occurred during the ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie event in 2017.
The Springbrook Road Repair Works project involved major and minor slope rectification works including localised pavement, drainage and road furniture repairs.
Scope of works also included:
- reconstruction of pavements, drainage and roadside furniture; and
- construction of gabions, rockfall and shotcrete retaining structures, soil nailing, installation of nails and rock bolts, installation of Rockall mesh and debris flow fences, hydro mulching and erosion control matting.
