In November 2016, Georgiou was awarded the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) package for the Tianqi Lithium Project Works in Kwinana WA, just months after the company secured the preliminary earthworks package for the site.

After a five month ECI process, Georgiou was awarded the design and construct contract in April 2017, valued at $17 million.

Scope of works for the project involved the construction of eight non-process infrastructure buildings including the administration, training, security, warehouse storage, laboratory and control room buildings.

The Tianqi Lithium Project Works project was a full turn-key project with Georgiou delivering precast concrete and steel erection right through to façade cladding, fitout works and service installation. This also included complex N+1 power, IT and communication systems installation with mechanical backup in the plant’s control centre – a critical element of the plant which controls all elements of the lithium treatment and refining process.

This was the third contract Georgiou secured with MSP Engineering for Tianqi Lithium Australia and highlights the strong relationship built with both clients.
