Work to start on Roe 8 following contract award

Wednesday 12, October 2016

Yesterday (Tuesday 11 October 2016) was a monumental day for Georgiou Group and it's Perth Freightlink Alliance partners - CPB Contractors, WA Limestone, GHD, AECOM and BG&E - with the signing of the Roe 8 contract in Perth.

This follows an announcement in October 2015 which named the Alliance as the preferred proponent for the delivery of the project. Roe 8 will involve a 5km, four-lane dual carriageway extension of Roe Highway from the Kwinana Freeway intersection through to Stock Road.

Valued at $450 million, Roe 8 is expected to directly create 400-500 jobs during the construction phase and is set to reduce congestion, improve freight efficiency and provide better safety outcomes for all road users.

Construction of Roe 8 is scheduled to begin in late 2016 - early 2017, following detailed design and the endorsement of the Alliance’s project management plans.

Georgiou solidifies roadworks capability in QLD

Friday 07, October 2016

Georgiou Group is continuing to strengthen its Queensland operations with the award of a second Southport-Burleigh Road Contract, valued at $18.5 million.

Awarded by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), Georgiou will construct a third traffic lane in each direction by removing the on-street parking, while constructing a shared off-road cycle and pedestrian pathway and a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) upgrade.

The innovative CFI solution, designed by the Department, will address traffic congestion and provide an additional access to Surfers Paradise from the south.

Georgiou Group’s Queensland General Manager Gary Georgiou said the latest contract win demonstrates Georgiou’s roadworks capability in Queensland.

“A key focus of our growth strategy in Queensland is to build our reputation as a quality roads contractor while building on our relationships with key clients such as TMR,” said Mr Georgiou.

“We have a strong track record across Australia for delivering large-scale road projects critical to each State’s road network and this latest win will ensure we continue to build vital public infrastructure for the Queensland community.”

Georgiou are currently delivering the southern section of the Southport–Burleigh Road network improvement project. This latest contract award will see the company continue their work from Vespa Crescent in Bundall through to the Monaco Street Bridge in Sorrento.

The project, which will see 120 personnel at peak, is due for completion in late 2017.

Georgiou is currently completing works on the $7.5M Paradise Road Upgrade in QLD, $30M Russell Road Upgrade in WA and the $57M Northern Road Upgrade in NSW.

Georgiou featured in Builders Choice Magazine

Wednesday 28, September 2016

Georgiou's Curtin University Building 410 was recently featured in The Builders Choice Magazine's September edition.

In July 2014, Georgiou was awarded a contract value at $37 million to construct a specialist education building for the new medical teaching school at the Curtin University Bentley Campus. An integrated fitout for several floors was subsequently awarded resulting in a total contract value of approximately $42 million. This five-storey building (with a total of 6,350m2 of floor area) has been designed to accommodate a mix of formal and informal learning areas. An iconic design was selected by Curtin University as the new building is located at the entry to the new precinct which is part of the 'Greater Curtin' campus development.

Edgewater Carpark on track

Wednesday 10, August 2016

The new multi-storey carpark at Edgewater Station, currently being delivered by Georgiou Group, is on track for completion by the end of the year. Construction of the 1,450 bay carpark started earlier this year and the project, which will deliver 560 new bays at Edgewater Station, is now around 70 per cent complete. Transport Minister Dean Nalder, who took a site tour of the carpark this morning (August 10), said when the multi-storey facility opened later this year it would help ease the growing demand for parking at train stations on the Joondalup train line.

"The Joondalup train line is the second busiest heavy rail route in the metropolitan area, with the Mandurah Line experiencing the highest patronage," Mr Nalder said.

"The new carpark at Edgewater will create 560 new car bays for commuters to use and with more than 1,500 passenger boardings at the station each weekday, the extra infrastructure is expected to be in demand."

The Minister said construction of an access ramp, external drainage and other civil works was continuing at the Edgewater site.

"The work schedule in the next few months will focus on installing cladding on the outside of the building, followed by painting and an internal fit-out," he said.

"This will be the latest in a series of public transport projects the State Government will deliver on time and under budget, including the Perth Busport and the Butler rail extension project."
