CONSTRUCTION COMMENCES AT LEACH WELSHPOOL ALLIANCE

Construction has commenced at Georgiou’s Leach Welshpool Alliance project with a traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, led by local Noongar elder Danny Ford.

The ceremony was held at the Welshpool intersection, ahead of construction works commencing.

Noongar Elder Danny Ford explained a Welcome to Country/Smoking Ceremony is similar to a “site induction or getting your passport stamped”. It means you have permission to be on the land, you are welcome to their Country and have been granted safe passage.

The Smoking aims to spiritually cleanse the space of bad energy to safely conduct work.

All employees were invited to pass through the smoke infused with smells of local Native plants.
