Georgiou Group – in alliance with Main Roads WA, BG&E and Golder Associates – has been awarded the Leach Highway and Welshpool Road Interchange project, valued at $82 million.

Scope of works involves the construction of a new bridge taking Leach Highway over Welshpool Road to create a grade-separated interchange, a roundabout at the current Leach Highway and Welshpool Road intersection and construction of a shared path along Leach Highway from Welshpool Road to Orrong Road.

CEO Rob Monaci said the result of joining of the LWA Team (Georgiou, BG&E and Golder) with our client MRWA into a singular team through the design stage has provided considerable benefits.

“One of our key values at Georgiou is innovation and through this model, the LWA Team worked with the client to progress a design which will deliver improved safety benefits, increased traffic capacity and considerable cost savings,” explains Mr Monaci.

“This is where the collaborative approach comes into its own. The combining of the client-designer and constructor jointly at an early stage in the project development process has already been able to deliver demonstrable value to our client, Main Roads WA.”

Mr Monaci said the company was looking forward to delivering another safe and efficient transport link while building on its relationship with Main Roads WA, BG&E and Golder.

Construction on the project, which will see 130 employed at peak, will commence immediately with an expected completion in late 2022.

The Alliance aims to maximise local content, including local Welshpool business involvement, during the construction phase.
