Georgiou is currently constructing a new riverwalk from City Reach Boardwalk (at the corner of Alice Street and Edward Street) to Bunya Walk in the Botanic Gardens as part of Brisbane City Council’s Better Bikeways 4 Brisbane Program.
Scope of works for the project includes:
- a two-way, separated cyclist and pedestrian pathway,
- a viewing platform and River Hub connection;
- retaining the existing footpath access along the river’s edge;
- associated footpath connection works;
- provision of lighting, wayfinding signage and a permanent counter; and
- associated landscaping works.
The vast majority of construction activities will be undertaken from the river.
The project, which will employ 30 people at peak, will provide a safer, accessible and more direct pedestrian and cyclist connection for the people of Brisbane.
