Georgiou, with BMD Group are the nominated preferred proponents to form an alliance with Main Roads and design consultant BG&E to deliver the Fitzroy River Bridge project in Western Australia’s Kimberley Region.

Scope of work involves construction of a new bridge following Fitzroy River Bridge’s collapse as a result of flooding earlier this year.

Georgiou is currently delivering the $400 million Tonkin Gap Project and Associated Works and the $232 million Mitchell Freeway Extension Project with BMD and BG&E in Western Australia.

Chief Executive Officer Gary Georgiou said, “Our partnership with BMD brings proven expertise and experience working as an integrated team – something which is crucial to expedite the successful delivery of this critical project and, in turn, support the region’s recovery.”

The Fitzroy River Bridge project will reconnect Western Australia’s Kimberley region in addition to driving significant investment in the local economy. The Alliance will generate opportunities for local suppliers and will work with Traditional Owners and local Aboriginal Corporations to maximise employment and economic outcomes.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in May 2023 with the new bridge expected to be operational by the end of 2024.
