BRUCE HIGHWAY – SALTWATER CREEK BRIDGE UPGRADE

Georgiou Group is delivering the construction contract for the Bruce Highway – Saltwater Creek Bridge Upgrade by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR).

Scope of works includes for the $103 million project includes the upgrade of 12 kilometres of the Bruce Highway including construction of two new bridges at Saltwater Creek and Deadmans Gully crossing and an upgrade to four existing floodways between Maryborough and Torbanlea.

Key features:

  • construction of high-level bridge and approaches on a new alignment at Saltwater Creek crossing, and a new bridge and approaches to Deadmans Gully on a new alignment;
  • upgrade four existing floodway sections north of Saltwater Creek between Maryborough and Torbanlea to improve flood immunity;
  • minor realignment of Herrenberg Street and Rampton Road intersections, to connect to the new Bruce Highway alignment.

Construction has commenced and is expected to be completed by late 2023.

Once complete, the project will improve the safety and reliability of the Bruce Highway and reduce the social and economic impacts associated with flood-related highway closures.
