Georgiou has delivered the ALDI Distribution Centre in WA – the first distribution centre for supermarket powerhouse ALDI Australia. The design and construct contract was valued at $57 million.

Capable of supporting in excess of 70 retail stores, the 50,000m2 distribution centre includes refrigerated areas, ancillary buildings, an office, extensive heavy-duty hardstand areas and landscaping.

The centre was designed to support low lifecycle costs over a 30-plus year life — a major consideration for ALDI, which has positioned itself worldwide as an environmentally responsible company.

This was a crucial project for ALDI as it established their presence in WA and formed the basis for their expansion and distribution of products locally.

The ALDI Distribution Centre is one of Georgiou’s notable Green Star rated projects. Green Star is an internationally recognised sustainability rating system which assesses and rates buildings, fitouts and communities against a range of environmental impact categories. Projects can be rated from 1 – 6 stars, with 1 achieving Minimum Practice and 6 achieving World Leadership.
