Over a period of five years, Georgiou delivered the Mount Hospital Northern Expansion project for client, Healthscope.

In 2013, Georgiou was awarded an initial early works contract to carry out services relocation, structural strengthening and retaining works on the Mount Hospital in WA. Scope of works comprised of: an upgrade of the sprinkler and distribution system including fire water booster pump; strengthening of the existing rear hospital carpark to support new buildings above; new retaining wall structures at the rear carpark and at the base of the Kings Park escarpment for the future building; carpark upgrade works.

A construction management contract model was adopted by the client due to the tight timeframes and undefined scope. The project was technically challenging and required a high degree of planning and coordination in order to prevent any disruption to life critical systems within a live hospital environment.

In September 2013, Georgiou was awarded Stage 2 of works which included the new Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), new operating theatres, plant room and connection into the existing hospital including fitout.

The new building was constructed on top of the existing carpark which was partly demolished and strengthened.

Georgiou was then awarded Stage 3 compromising a catheter laboratory and further refurbishment and upgrade of power, water, sewerage, communications, fire, security and nurse call systems.

In January 2016, Georgiou was awarded Stage Four, which comprised of refurbish of two existing operating theatres and associated rooms, new mechanical laminar flow system and medical pendant system.

In November 2016, Georgiou was awarded the next stage, Stage Five, to refurbish existing operating theatres and associated rooms, new mechanical laminar flow system and medical pendant system.
