Georgiou Group has been awarded an $80 million contract to deliver the 2022 Flood Recovery Project (North), for new client Toowoomba Regional Council in Queensland.

The project will restore damaged roads and culverts to their original state following floods the impacted the Darling Downs region in late 2021 and 2022. The project covers sites as far north as Yarraman, south as Toowoomba, east as Ravensbourne and west as Bowenville.

Scope of works includes:

  • drainage, slope rehabilitation and pavement works;
  • desilting and repair of drainage structures;
  • formation grades; and
  • extensive rectification works to approximately 80km of unsealed roads in flood-affected areas.

Once complete, the road network will be restored and the roads will continue to be accessible and safe for the community and road users.

Works commenced in September 2023, with project completion expected for late-2024.
