The $38 million project, initiated by the Queensland Government, will see the Bruce Highway interchange at Tinana undergo significant improvements in an effort to improve traffic management and safety and support Fraser Coast regional growth.
CEO John Georgiou said the company is pleased to be continuing to play a key role in the improvement of Queensland’s road network, with this contract the third of its kind awarded to the national building construction, engineering and property development company.
“Since 2012, the Georgiou has completed significant road upgrades on the Bruce Highway that have resulted in long term benefits to road users and the State,” Mr Georgiou said.
“I am pleased to once again join the Queensland Government for the Tinana Interchange upgrade works and to deliver another great infrastructure project to the Queensland community.”
Changes to the Tinana Interchange include construction of a northbound off-ramp, relocation of the Three Mile Road intersection about 300m south of its current location, removing the southbound off-ramp to Gympie Road, upgrading the existing southbound on-ramp and incorporating a wide centre line treatment.
Previous Bruce Highway projects completed by Georgiou are the realignment of the Walker Street intersection completed in 2013 and the Bruce Highway Flood Recovery Works from Kolan River to St Lawrence, which commenced in February 2014.
Works on the interchange will commence in August 2016 and are scheduled for completion late 2017.
