In July 2014, Georgiou entered the specialist education building sector with the award of Curtin University Building 410, the medical teaching building at Curtin University’s Bentley campus in WA, valued at $40 million.
The Curtin University Building 410 is a five-storey complex with a total of 6,350m2 of floor area designed to accommodate a mix of formal and informal learning areas. Exposed concrete and in-situ beams with feature textured surfaces were specified in keeping with the high quality finishes of surrounding buildings on the campus. The external façade also features curved precast wall panels, manufactured using coloured concrete and a high class surface finish, providing vertical fins on the building façade for shading purposes.
The contract also included an integrated fitout incorporating state-of-the art audio visual, communications, IT and security services. Extensive landscaping and public art was also designed to provide a comfortable and attractive environment for students and staff.
